UK to Help Ethiopia Pursue Masterminds of Addis Ababa Rally Bomb Blast

Addis Ababa (Halbeeg) — The government of UK has offered to assist Ethiopia to pursue the masterminds of the hand grenade attack at the rally in Addis Ababa town.

British Ambassador to Ethiopia Susanna Moorehead on Friday said the UK will continue to work together with the Ethiopian government to the perpetrators of the heinous attack.

During a lengthy discussion with Ethiopia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Afework Kassu, Moorehead expressed UK’s readiness to assist Ethiopia on Security.

“We are ready to provide additional assistance to investigate this attack and to bring its organisers and perpetrators to justice,” she said. She also conveyed her message of condolences to the victims, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Moorehead further commended Ethiopia’s role in brokering peace between the warring parties in neighbouring South Sudan.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthening cooperation between Ethiopia and Britain in the areas of development, trade, investment, peace and security, among others.

Last week, two people were killed and over 150 others injured in the attack at the rally staged in the capital Addis Ababa to show support for the reform agenda of Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed.
