IN PICTURES ~ Rallies in support of PM Ahmed in cities in Northern Ethiopia (Engidu Woldie)

Residents of the city of palm trees, Bahir Dar and several towns in Northern Ethiopia came out in their thousands to rally in support of political and economic reform initiatives by a populist Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.

 Photo and video shared on social media show residents of Bahir Dar adorning a long stretch of a street with what was said to be a 500 meter flag.

As far as the eye can see on the streets of Bahir Dar and towns across the Amhara region, all is covered with the Ethiopian tricolor of green yellow and red.

The young Prime Minister has gotten the support from diverse group of people including opposition party leaders and exiled critics for his call of reconciliation, unity and forgiveness to move the country forward.
