South Sudanese president, rebel leader to arrive in Ethiopia on Wednesday to revive peace talks

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar are set to arrive in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Wednesday to revive peace talks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said on Tuesday.

MoFA said in a press statement the meeting between the South Sudan warring sides is being organized under the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed who is also currently chairman of the East African bloc, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Ethiopia, a key player in IGAD, has hosted several rounds of South Sudan peace talks ever since civil war broke out in South Sudan more than four years ago.
