PM Abiy confers with elders in Hawassa about recent developments

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed vows his government will work together with the public to bring to justice culprits behind the recent tragic incident in Hawassa following the annual Fichee-Chambalaalla celebration.

Fichee-Chambalaalla is a New Year festival celebrated among the Sidama people of Southern Ethiopia.

Dr. Abiy conferred with elders of Hawassa town today in connection with recent developments there including the unpleasant incident which brought about loss of lives and property.

Speaking on the occasion, the Premier asserted that the government will work in partnership with the local community to hunt and bring to justice those who instigated the conflict.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abiy left Hawassa for Wolayita Soddo later today to hold similar discussions with residents there.
